Anthony for me! Was a box to box nuisance all game! Superb finish for his goal and way to quick for our standard of linesman!! Some of his tackling back was impressive, never stopped! Good on the young man!
Camp so composed is my second choice. Good to see Anthony get off the mark, hopefully will grow his confidence. Gave the ball away a bit but always tracked back to win it back. Unlucky with the (offside) goal. Ward looked more authoritative than usual (shame about the pass to the striker). Mcquoid, confident penalty (although most terras fans probably had their eyes shut!!). Opposition are scared of him, just hope he can sort his injuries out. Robinson delivered again, extra marks for the excellent forward dive into the box!! VERY IMPORTANT NOT TO GET EARLY YELLOW CARDS THOUGH!!!
Ngalo and Wakefield. Rolled my eyes a bit when I saw them on the team sheet but both showed up and had excellent games. Is it my widescreen telly or has Jordan’s thighs got EVEN BIGGER. Saying that, the telly did make a few of the players look like they are carrying a few extra pounds than in real-life I thought! (Although the lockdown haircuts probably didn’t help!)
Hobson and McCarthy absolute rocks at the back. Jake also made a huge contribution when pushed into midfield, we miss him there. Thought Dorking had us sussed with the long ball and ping pong in our box for the 2 goals though!
Harfield, constant threat. Great assist for the winner.
Can’t seem to find a MOM thread anywhere so here goes:
For me, Calvin Brooks.
Never stopped running. Instrumental in the goals early on. Never made a mistake.
Quite why the commentators thought he was playing as a wing back when he was obviously right midfield and Camp was right back was quite peculiar!
That would be because we played a 3-5-2 with Hobson, camp and Mccarthy as a 3 with Brooks and Harfield as wing backs. Brooks was encouraged to stay forward in the first half but then filled his defensive duties when called back.
Dorking were certainly no mugs, and grew into the game. Was impressed with our work rate, every player giving his all for our club. We have some great players to bring on,always difficult to get straight into the pace of the game, but battled hard. Understandable that maybe we looked a bit rusty, but a game gone,a win,and everything to play for. Camp looked his strong mature self, Brooks ran his socks off. Not one player looked out of place ,so onwards to Saturday.
